The settlement of Újszentmargita is one of the most underdeveloped settlements, so the economic development of the settlement is a priority. In the past years, the Municipality of Újszentmargita has always tried to launch value-creating programme elements within the framework of the Start Work programme. Among these, the pasta production has always been the one, whose development, expansion and market launch has been realised in concrete plans.
The Municipality of Újszentmargita intends to establish a dry pasta plant in Újszentmargita between 19 February 2021 and 31 December 2024, with the help of the non-refundable budget support of HUF 253 510 513 received within the framework of the Economic Stimulation Programme of the Beneficiary Municipalities.
The Municipality intends to locate the plant on the property at 4065 Újszentmargita, Kossuth u. 32, 63, which is owned by the Municipality in 1/1 ownership share, so no real estate will be purchased in connection with the project.2 The construction of a completely new 320 m2 plant for the pasta factory will ensure cost-effectiveness with a technical inspector. The production requires the acquisition of a complete pasta production line, which fully meets the requirements of the times. During the implementation of the project, the Municipality will pay particular attention to achieving the highest possible level of renewable energy use.
The municipality intends to set up a non-profit limited company to run the pasta factory. For the operation, the non-profit company intends to employ 7 people, of which the municipality undertakes to create new jobs for 3 people and to provide them for 3 years. It is also planned to involve disadvantaged workers in the operation, thus improving the employment situation in the municipality. The support of the economic recovery programme will help to employ disadvantaged workers in Újszentmargita and to develop innovative technology. An important objective is to maintain and further develop the results achieved within the framework of the district start-up programme. We plan to produce organic and functional products.
In the recent period, the Municipality of Újszentmargita has tried to involve partners who can ensure the sale of the dry pasta produced and avoid "warehouse production". At present, the Municipality of Újszentmargita has a minimum annual purchase requirement of 150-180 tonnes, which is a guarantee that the establishment of the pasta factory is sound and marketable. Marketing activities to boost sales include the creation of a brand image, website and webshop development, social media advertising and an Adwords campaign. Public information and social acceptance of the establishment of the plant will be promoted through information publications. Publicity will be ensured through the display of information boards.
The smooth running of the project, the coordination of the individual project activities, the preparation of technical and financial reports and other administrative tasks, as well as the monitoring of the progress of the programme by the Directorate-General for Social Empowerment (DG SP) and the continuous monitoring of the project on the ground will be carried out by an external project management company. By producing and selling the products of the pasta factory, the municipality will be able to demonstrate its will to live and to innovate. The successful implementation of the project can greatly contribute to the realisation of further development and job creation tasks (e.g.: technological expansion, the possibility of realising egg production locally in Újszentmargita). With the project to be implemented, we want to set an example for other similar municipalities by demonstrating that a municipality is capable of implementing and operating a well-planned, sustainable economic project that creates jobs.

A Vidékfejlesztési Program Irányító Hatósága, mint Támogató támogatásra alkalmasnak minősítette, így
2022.11.08-án 3403483421 iratazonosító számmal Támogatói Okirat lépett hatályba.
Az Okirat kézhezvételét követően megkezdődtek az előkészületi munkálatok. Kiválasztásra kerültek a
pályázat szempontjából legmegfelelőbb szállítók a projekt keretében foglalt eszközbeszerzési és
honlapfejlesztési feladatokra.
Az Újszentmargita, Kossuth utca 32. számú ingatlanon lévő száraztészta gyáregység épülete
Gazdaságélénkítő Program finanszírozásából épül, azonban a nyertes pályázat keretén belül eszközbeszerzés nem történik, így szinergiában jelen projekttel került berendezésre az épület. A projekt keretében az üzem használati eszközparkjának beszerzésére került sor: polcok, anyagmozgató, irodabútor, személyzeti bútorok, irodai gépek/eszközök.
Az újszentmargitai mikrotérség gazdasági teljesítménye az országos átlag alatti, ahol a gazdasági fejlődés az ország gazdasági részéhez képest több évnyi időbeli késéssel kezdődött el. A térségben általános probléma a nagyon alacsony foglalkoztatottsági szint, illetve jelentős a munkavállalási korú népesség alacsony képzettségi szintje, a munkavállalási és mobilitási hajlandóság alacsony foka, a tartós munkanélküliek magas aránya. Újszentmargita település, a fejlődésben elmaradott települések közé tartozik, így a település gazdaságfejlesztése kiemelt cél. A projekt megvalósításával a fent jelölt negatívumok enyhíthetők.

A projekt eredményeként foglalkoztatás bővítés valósul meg, továbbá a település gazdasági ereje nő.
A projekt 2024. október 31-én fejeződött be.
